Weekly Photo Challenge – Partners

Published June 30, 2016 by wackybrittany

This week’s photo challenge is Partners. This was a little difficult for me. I had no clue what to choose. A picture if my boyfriend and I? A picture of my brother and myself? I really wanted a picture of my brother and his new therapy dog, but I didn’t manage to get one of those. I won’t be seeing them for a few more days, and I feel it would’ve been a forced picture since he’s still apprehensive about her.

I chose this picture. I’m not sure it really shows partnership in the traditional way, but I really like this picture, so I’ll swing with it. I was on a small family trip to go get my younger brother a therapy dog. The trip was a total of four hours long, there and back. I was sitting right next to him in the van. On our way there Joseph, my younger brother, randomly reaches his hand over and for a brief moment we held hands.  I’m glad I took this picture because it’s rare that he reaches out like this to hold hands. I live for precious moments like this. He isn’t one for too much affection, or to reach out and be interactive with people unless he wants something.

Happy Father’s Day!

Published June 20, 2016 by wackybrittany

Happy Father’s Day out there to all the different types of dads. I have two, one that passed away a few years ago, and my step dad.i didn’t see my dad a whole lot growing up, just a few times during the summer. My step dad has been in my life since I was about 10 or 11.

That’s my step dad and myself that I took today. I don’t think he knew where the camera was, lol. I took this picture on my iPad.

Today we watched a basketball game. I’m not a sports fan, but I watched because he was watching. He’s more of a football fan, but when it’s the finals he likes to watch basketball. It was mostly my younger sister, him, and myself watching. I actually got into the game a bit, cheering for the guys in the white jerseys because That was the team he chose. They lost, but it was kind of fun to watch because he was watching it. Will I ever watch basketball on my own now? No. It was a situational thing.

With life getting so busy now a days I enjoy family day. Sunday’s are family day. It’s our day to get together to spend as a family. That started after us two girls moved out, and my older brother lived in town. Of course it’s Father’s Day, so I couldn’t miss it today.

I don’t know where I was going his this post, but Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! I just realized I forgot to post on Mother’s Day, oops.

Anyway. Have a great day!

Numbers

Published June 9, 2016 by wackybrittany

This week’s The Daily Post’s challenge is numbers. When looking at my pictures at first it may not make sense, but when I explain a little bit you’ll see why I chose my pictures.

This is a close up of a hat I was working on.

This is a closeup of a small pile of buttons.

At first when I was thinking about this challenge I thought of having to show actual numbers, but when I thought about it more I chose not to. These pictures resembles the fact that when it comes to my crafting I am surrounded by numbers.

I use numbers when I crochet. The number of stitches I start with, how many stitches I have to increase or decrease, the measurement of the project I am working on, the size of hook, how many skeins of yarn I will need, how many yards of yarn I will need, and other things I can’t think of right now.

The buttons represent how many crafting supplies I have and need for projects. I have several skeins of yarn, an assortment of buttons, a few pairs of scissors (that I can’t keep track of), pieces of fabric, assortment of beads, wires, pliers, sewing needles, assortment of threads, amongst other types of crafting material.

When it comes to crafting I never stopped to think about how numbers are important. Not only for how many items I need to complete the project, but to the numbers required throughout the project as well.

I could go on and on to explain how numbers are important to crafting, but I won’t. I’m hoping I give a somewhat clear idea to numbers in crafting.

Thanks for taking time to read my blog. Take care!

Crocheting Hats in the Summer

Published June 6, 2016 by wackybrittany

Even though it’s hot outside I’m still making hats. I’ve got to continue to try to keep going with my Etsy Shop.

To be honest I haven’t made any money in a long time on my shop. I never really made any money. At this point I’m wondering why I’m still even still have my shop open. Oh well, I’ll continue until I either get somewhere. Or decide to stop.

Below is a picture of a hat I made yesterday while hanging out with my friends at her house. It is an Oregon Ducks inspired hat. What a great way to show your team spirit! It’s $10 in my Etsy shop. Click the link below to go tout my listing.

I Have a Snapchat Account

Published June 3, 2016 by wackybrittany

So, I finally decided to get a Snapchat account. I was hesitant at first about getting one, mostly because I just thought it was kind of weird, but I have begun to like it.

For the most part that is. Since I have been struggling with depression for a while the idea of taking pictures of myself is not pleasent, especially when I’m feeling depressed. I used to hate taking pictures of myself. I’ve always hated looking at myself in mirrors, let alone looking at my pictures after I take them.

I have gotten better, yes, but it’s a long slow road for me. I’m currently in counseling and it’s good I have some positive people in my life. I have been taking more and more pictures of myself recently as I have been healing from my past. I still struggle, but I’ve started to enjoy taking pictures of myself. Part to show my healing, but part because it’s fun. I’m not self centered, or seeking attention, or any other negative thought I’ve had about taking pictures of myself. I think it’s healthy to take pictures of myself, but not too many.

So in a way Snapchat is a good way to help me on my road to healing. It’s made me inspired to take more pictures to post into my Facebook and Instagram., not just of myself, but of other things as well.

Thank you for reading my blog! Take care!

What I Do In My Spare Time

Published June 2, 2016 by wackybrittany

The theme of my blog is what I enjoy doing in my spare time. I enjoy crafting.

This week’s The Daily Post Photo Challenge is called Spare. For some reason at first I was having a hard time trying to think of what to write about. Mostly becaus school has been a butt to me. It’s almost finals and I’m behind on homework, oops. I had a chance while waiting for a friend to think of what to work on and I chose to write about what I like to do in my spare time. It’s hard to just pick a few pictures though since I enjoy doing different types of crafts. My favorite thing to do most though is crochet.

Below is a flower hair clip I made.

I enjoy crocheting. I think this was the first craft my mom taught me when I was a kid. I made up a pattern for a cat ears headband. I don’t normally make up patterns, but this was fun.

I made up my own pattern to make a crocheted cat ears hat.

I crocheted my boyfriend a plush version of the D20 dice.

I crocheted my friend a Minecraft Creeper hat as a gift.

I hand wove my friend Ichigo’s mask from the anime Bleach. I used Peyote stitch and plastic pony beads.

The last picture I chose was a baby shirt that I hand sewn together. I followed a pattern and practiced from a bed sheet. I know how to machine sew, but at the time I didn’t have a sewing machine.

Those aren’t the only things I like to make. I also knit, jewelry making, plastic canvas, hand embroidery, polymer clay, and be lazy by gluing instead of sewing.

It was kind of a long post, sorry. I don’t know the limit for these challenge posts, but I hope it wasn’t too long.

Thanks for reading!
